About Reiki
Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy practice. A practitioner rests their hands lightly on or just above the body, usually while you lie fully clothed, with the aim of encouraging deep relaxation and a sense of balance.
Most sessions last 45 to 90 minutes. You stay dressed, the room is usually quiet or softly lit, and the practitioner moves through a series of hand positions from head to feet. Many people feel warmth, tingling or simply very relaxed. Distance (remote) Reiki is offered online by practitioners trained in Level 2 or higher.
Choosing someone in San Francisco
- Look at their training level: Level 1, Level 2 or Reiki Master (the level that can also teach).
- Ask whether they offer in-person, distance sessions, or both.
- Read reviews for how people felt during and after their session.
